Eating a healthy diet of protein, fruits, and vegetables will help to keep your blood sugar level throughout the afternoon and evening. If you eat a diet that contains a lot of sugary foods such a pastries, candy, and sugar filled drinks, you will probably find yourself crashing after lunch lacking energy and the ability to think clearly. By reducing your intake, you will find yourself with more energy to get through your day.
3. Sugar ages you
When you consume sugar, it reduces the amount of collagen and elastin in your skin, which leads to wrinkling and looking older than you are. Sugar also causes free-radical damage, which leads to premature aging of the skin. By consuming so much sugar, you could be unintentionally adding years to your appearance. If you want to look younger, cut the sugar from your diet.
4. Sugar has a negative impact on the cardiovascular system
Consuming too much sugar can damage your heart and lead to heart attacks, raised blood pressure, and heart disease. Being healthy in other areas such as weight and physical fitness doesn’t offset the negative affects that it has on the heart, so no matter how active you are, you will still benefit from reducing the amount you consume.
5. Sugar is bad for the brain
Consuming more sugar than recommended in a day can lead to memory and learning problems. People who consume too much may also be at increased risk of dementia. The sudden drop in blood sugar that you experience is what leads to feeling brain fog and irritability. It is also believed to cause inflammation in the brain, which may cause depression.
