
Easy and Delicious Pork Roast with Sauerkraut Recipe
Everyone has a New Year’s Day food tradition and mine ours is Pork Roast with Sauerkraut. It is believed that if you eat pork and sauerkraut on the first day of the new year, you will have a lucky year.
Now we’re not exactly sure what lucky means because we’ve been eating Pork Roast with Sauerkraut for a very long time and still no pot of gold or lottery wins, but we can say that we have been blessed.
This Pork Roast is super-delicious any time of the year and is PERFECT for a Sunday dinner. The baking method for the roast is simple so no time wasted browning the meat and washing extra pans.
Don’t forget the creamy mashed potatoes as a side dish. Cover your potatoes in a little butter, sauerkraut and juice from the sauerkraut.
Pork Roast with Sauerkraut
Try this delicious Pork Roast with Sauerkraut recipe anytime but it does make a great New Year’s Day Recipe!
- 1 (3 lb.) Pork Loin – Boneless Top Loin Center Roast
- 1/2 tablespoon butter
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- salt & pepper
- 1 or 2 Jars Sauerkraut

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and Spray a 9 x 13 casserole dish with nonstick spray.

Lay pork roast in the dish, fat side down. Spread a small amount of butter on the top side of the roast and then sprinkle with spices, salt and pepper.

Bake uncovered for 45 minutes.

Remove from the oven and add the sauerkraut to the dish.

Cover with foil; reduce heat to 325 degrees and bake for about 2-1/2 or 3 additional hours.

The roast meat browns in the oven so no need to the braise the pork roast in advance. You can definitely use a dutch oven to roast this if you have one.
