
Ground Turkey Skillet Recipe – Southwest Style
You just can’t beat this ground turkey skillet dinner – it’s perfect for a busy night when you would like a healthy and tasty dinner but don’t have a lot of time to cook.
Tex-Mex Dinner with a Southwest style! Plenty of corn, black beans and tomatoes!
We use ground turkey to make this dish a little leaner and Minute rice to make it a little quicker. Two changes to this skillet dish that make it just perfect!
Eat this skillet dinner as is or wrap it up in a flour tortilla for a Tex-Mex Burrito.

Ground Turkey Southwest Skillet Burritos
Your Family is going to love this skillet turkey southwest dinner. It’s easy to prepare in under 20 minutes.
- 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 lb. ground turkey
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 cup frozen corn
- 2 tablespoons mild taco seasoning, divided
- 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (10 oz.) can RoTel diced tomatoes & green chilies
- 1-1/4 cup water
- 1-1/2 cups instant rice, uncooked
- 1 medium lime
- 1-1/2 cups shredded cheddar jack cheese

Using a large skillet with a lid, cook onion and corn in oil for about 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle a little bit of the taco seasoning over mixture while it cooks.

Add ground turkey and continue to cook about 4 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in black beans, tomatoes and water and the rest of the taco seasoning; bring to a light boil.
- Stir in rice. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 6 to 7 minutes. Stir in about 1/2 cup of the cheese and juice from 1/2 a lime. Sprinkle the top with the rest of the cheese and cover with a lid to melt.
Make sure you have plenty of flour tortillas and sour cream to make some healthy and delicious burritos with the turkey skillet.

Saute the onion with the corn and sprinkle both with a little bit of taco seasoning while it cooks to spice up the corn and make it super-tasty.
